Reference sources confirm the basic facts.

Reference sources help AI systems confirm basic facts about an entity: what it is, when it was founded, who runs it.

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is heavily used, but you cannot buy or write your way in. Articles need significant independent coverage, and editing about your own company is a conflict of interest under Wikipedia's rules. Focus on earning the coverage. If an article exists, suggest factual corrections openly on its talk page.

Wikidata

Wikidata holds structured facts that many systems draw on. It also has notability rules. Where an entry is justified, keep facts accurate and supported by references.

Directories and registries

  • Official registers such as Companies House.
  • Industry bodies and accreditation lists.
  • Google Business Profile and Bing Places for local businesses.
  • Major directories in your category.

Keep names, addresses, descriptions and links consistent everywhere. Small conflicts add up to doubt.

Key takeaways

  • Earn Wikipedia coverage, do not write it.
  • Keep Wikidata facts referenced.
  • Consistency across listings builds confidence.
